In a shocking incident, the Vasai Tehsildar seized four EVM machines from a zonal officers residence, while they were trying to shift it to the center at 2:00 am on Wednesday.
After being tipped off by the party workers about possibility of rigged EVM Machines being kept at a zonal officer, Ashok Mandare's residence in Vasai, sitting MLA Vivek Pandit caught them red handed and informed the Tehsildar Sunil Koli.
Mandare is working with Vasai-Virar Municipal corporation which is ruled by the Bahujan Vikas Aghadi led by Hitendra Thakur, who is also contesting against Pandit from Vasai.
"As soon as we got the information that Mandare and his wife were trying to escape with the 4 EVM machines, we suspect that they were rigged and were about to be used in polls",said Vivek Pandit.
"Due to Bahujan Vikas Aghadi leaders, the election process is being tampered and we want a fair elections", said Pandit.
After seizure and conducting panchnama of the machines, Sunil Koli, Vasai Tehsildar, said, "We will be checking the machine, whether it has been tampered and a report would be prepared. As machines can't be kept with oneself, further actions will be taken against the officer."
