India Under-19 cricket team coach Bharat Arun is as studious as one can be. He guided the team to victory ICC World Cup victory in 2012 under Unmukt Chand’s captaincy. Now, under Vijay Zol, the onus is on India to defend the title successfully in the event in UAE starting on February 14.
Speaking on the eve of the team’s departure to UAE here on Friday, Arun said: “There’s definitely going to be pressure heading into a major tournament like this. The challenge is to conquer the pressure that you’re going to face. We’ve set the processes in the two-day boot camp in Wayanad for clarity of each individual’s role. More focus on the process would take you away from the pressure.”
Zol, who was part of the triumphant side two years ago, would be keen to make amends for his failure with the bat for Maharashtra in their Ranji Trophy semifinal and final. “For me, playing the Ranji final itself was a great experience. I learnt a lot in my maiden first-class season and would like to implement them the World Cup.
Probably, winning the World Cup would make me happier and it would compensate for not contributing in the Ranji final,” the left-handed batsman said.
