Claiming that not a single loan disbursed during past four years of BJP rule has turned into a non-performing asset, Union Law and Information Technology Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said his party led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi will get an absolute majority in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. He said the 10 years of UPA rule laid many mines and they are exploding, referring to financial frauds. He said the Modi government was reshaping the country's fortune.

Prasad also touched upon various issues ranging from 2G scam verdict, India's rise as global IT giant, changing political scenario to politics of appeasement at the Zee India Conclave. Responding to a question on the TDP's exit from NDA, Prasad said, "Chandrababu's party decided to exit the BJP-led alliance after staying together for many years. It was unfortunate. We regret their departure.''

On the allegation that the BJP cheated the TDP after promising to give special status to Andhra Pradesh, Prasad said, ''There were no issues with PM Modi, with BJP. The dispute was only about the special status. We said that we will give you special assistance for the development of Andhra Pradesh but they decided to sever ties. We will still stick to our promise to give special assistance to Andhra Pradesh.''

On the 2G scam verdict, Prasad said, ''This is my humble submission that the verdict in 2G case was totally wrong. It will be challenged in the higher court.'' He called the BJP's defeat in recently concluded Gorakhpur and Phulpur bypolls a consolation prize for the Opposition. Talking about the anti-corruption drive of the Modi government, Prasad said that in today's time nobody could think now offering a bribe to any government officer.

Defending the government, he said that the BJP never used the Ram Mandir issue to win any elections and now is confident of staying in power after the 2019 polls. Prasad also questioned the role of former finance minister P Chidambaram in the contentious 80:20 gold import scheme and alleged that it was passed to benefit companies like the Gitanjali group. He said that the scheme, which was introduced in August 2013 and then repealed in November 2014, was passed on May 16, 2014, for the "benefit of seven companies.

"The then finance minister gave aashirwaad to seven private companies under the 80:20 scheme. One of those companies was Gitanjali." He went on to assert that not a single loan given under the present regime is a non-performing asset.
