Diversified media house Zee Group on Thursday took over the Ahmedabad operations of DNA — Daily News and Analysis — from DB Corp Ltd, which has been publishing the newspaper since its launch in 2005. Zee Group will soon launch its 24-hour news channel in Gujarati as well.

At a ceremony on DNA premises in Ahmedabad, Jagdish Chandra, CEO of DNA, said Zee Group and Dainik Bhaskar Group have been working together all these years. Regarding the partnership with DB Corp Ltd, Mr Chandra said, “Bhaskar and DNA are like natural allies and sister concerns. In the past, we had run DNA together. Under the joint leadership of Dr Subhash Chandra and Late Sri Ramesh Chandra, Bhaskar chairman. DNA has done good work here. We will further improve upon and run the paper under the dynamic leadership of Dr Subhash Chandra. We will try to give more content in Gujarat and make the paper more popular.”

As per the vision of Zee Group founder Dr Subhash Chandra, it was decided that Zee will take over the Jaipur and Ahmedabad editions of DNA. The newspaper was launched in 2005 as a joint venture of Zee Group and Dainik Bhaskar Group. DNA is currently published from New Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur and Ahmedabad.

Mr Chandra paid homage to former chairman of Dainik Bhaskar Group, late Ramesh Chandra Agarwal, for his contribution to the field of journalism in Gujarat as well as the country. Mr Chandra had worked closely with him in Rajasthan.

He said that Zee will soon be launching a 24x7 television news channel in Gujarati, and the move to take over the operations of DNA will act as a force multiplier by creating a synergy between the print editions and TV news channel.

DNA Mumbai editor Deepak Lokhande, Zee Hindustan editor Brijeshkumar Singh, Zee 24 Kalak editor Deepak Rajani and COO of Divya Bhaskar — the Gujarati newspaper of DB Corp Ltd — Amit Doshi were also present on the occasion.
