In a bizarre incident, a 23-year-old post-graduation student ended his life by jumping from the 19th floor room of a five-star hotel in Bandra West on Monday. Before ending his life, he went live on Facebook and recorded a 1.43-minute-long video giving a tutorial on how to end one's life.

The deceased, Arjun Bharadwaj, took the extreme step at around 6.20 pm when he broke the glass window of his room and leaped to his death. The Bandra police found a suicide note in which Bharadwaj said he was ending his life due to depression. In the note, Bharadwaj held no one responsible for his act.

The youth had come from Bengaluru and was studying in Mumbai at an engineering college. According to police, the youth had checked into the Taj Lands End hotel at 3 am and had submitted all the identity proofs and documents.

Before jumping from the hotel room window, Bhardwaj in the video gives steps to end one's life by first writing notes to people, then getting drunk — he is seen smoking and consuming alcohol — enjoying the view from the hotel room and eating bacon pasta. Later, he ends the video claiming that he will not be recording when he jumps, and bids goodbye to friends.

"We rushed him to Leelavati Hospital where he was declared dead on admission. The guard present in the premise alerted the hotel management after they found Bharadwaj lying in the premise in pool of blood,” a police officer from Bandra police station revealed.

The police and the hotel management found the note in which he apologised to his parents for his act and said his depression drove him to end his life. He also said he was going to miss his friends.

Pandit Thackeray, Senior Inspector, Bandra police station, said, "We have informed the family about the incident and they have come in the city from Bengaluru to collect the body."

"Prima facie it seems that the youth was depressed and we are probing if he was addicted to drugs. We are investigating the case further," said Thackeray.
