Sushma Swaraj offers to help this man who lost his passport days before his wedding.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj's popularity on Twitter is known to everyone. With her quick responses to various problems and witty replies, Swaraj has legions of fan following on the micro-blogging site.
So, it was no surprise when she decided to help this man who lost his Indian passport in Washington DC just days before his marriage.
The Twitter user identified as Devatha Ravi Teja on July 30 in a tweet requested Swaraj's intervention in his passport lost case.
"I lost my passport in Washington DC USA. I have my wedding on August 13-15. Traveling on August 10. Please help me expedite my tatkal request and help me in attending my wedding in time. You are my only hope. Plz do the needful," Teja tweeted.
Swaraj was quick to reply with a witty tweet extending her help in the matter. "You have lost your passport at a very wrong time. However, we will help you reach for your wedding in time," Swaraj replied to Teja.
And Teja didn't spare much time in thanking Swaraj for her quick intervention in the matter. "Thank you @SushmaSwaraj ji. I will look forward for this. Really great gesture and it means the world. Thank you so much," Teja posted on Twitter.
Earlier, Swaraj faced online abuse over a passport row involving inter-faith couple.
On June this year, a Passport Seva Kendra official in Lucknow was transferred after he allegedly humiliated an inter-faith couple, asking the husband to convert to Hinduism and pulling up the wife for marrying a Muslim, when they went to the office with their passport applications. The couple's passports were issued a day later the woman complained to Swaraj on Twitter.
A section of social media attacked the Ministry of External Affairs and Swaraj for action against Vikas Mishra, the official accused of humiliating the couple, claiming that he was just doing his duty.
