AAP founder members Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan, who had challenged Arvind Kejriwal's leadership, were today removed from the party's powerful National Executive by an overwhelming majority at the National Council meet, a move slammed as "murder of democracy" by the duo. After making an emotional speech, party Chief Arvind Kejriwal left the venue before the resolution to remove the two leaders was introduced by Manish Sisodia.

Pankaj Gupta, National Secretary of Aam Aadmi Party said that Yogendra Yadav, Prashant Bhushan and their supporters Anand Kumar and Ajit Jha. "Proposal was introduced during National Council meet that Yogendra Yadav, Prashant Bhushan, Anand Kumar and Ajit Jha be removed from NE for anti-party activities." He added that 247 people had supported the proposal while only eight people opposed it.

AAP core committee member Sanjay Singh added that the supposed scuffe between supporters of the two camps were untrue. "The reports of scuffle during AAP National Council meeting are completely baseless and untrue."
