Essel Group chairman and Rajya Sabha member Subhash Chandra on Friday in a series of tweets thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for inaugurating Essel Group America’s YO1 – the United States via video-conferencing.  “Thankful to Pradhan Mantri Modi Ji for joining us in dedicating YO1 Nature Cure to US. International day of Yoga which was mooted by you, is India i.e. Bharat’s gift to humanity and on this 4th World Yoga Day, we dedicate YO1 for the wellness of our American friends.(sic),” he tweeted.

On speaking of the four-year-old dream, Subhash Chandra added, “On the first international day of Yoga, we did the bhoomi-poojan of YO1 and now on the 4th international day of Yoga, we’re gifting it to all the Yogis in America. With state of the art facility, equipped with best trainers & techniques YO1 brings to you holistic wellness.”

On speaking of the health benefits of yoga, the Rajya Sabha member added, “Obesity, heart related diseases, hypertension, respiratory infections are byproducts of the industrial, urban world where we live in. Indian Rishis/Sages from innumerable years gathered the divine knowledge of health and well-being and imparted in us in the form of Yoga.”

He also quoted Swami Vivekananda from his trip to Chicago where he recited a bit of the Bhagwad Gita. “Whosoever comes to Me, through whatsoever form, I reach them; all are struggling through paths which in the end lead to Me. In India there’s also a path that finds Him in Health,” Subhash Chandra tweeted.

On setting up of the centre in the United States, Subhash Chandra said, “Essel Group has been working in US for the past 2 decades to entertain Americans. Since 2010, Zee Living advanced towards health-based TV station and now YO1 is our next step towards preventing Rog (ill-health) by Yog (Yoga, Ayurveda, Naturopathy).”

Earlier, PM Modi lauded the Essel Group initiative, which he said will provide direct employment to 500 people and to more than 1500 people indirectly.

While wishing that the YO1 centre will go a long way, PM said, ''I am happy that the Essel Group has chosen the International Day of Yoga for the inauguration of the YO1 wellness centre.''

PM Modi also later took to Twitter and informed that he inaugurated the YO1 nature cure centre in New York and shared his speech which he delivered on the occasion.

The event was attended by several distinguished local and state-level US politicians, health and wellness experts, businessmen and noted Indian Americans. Bobby K Kalotee, Nassau County Human Rights Commissioner, Legislator Ira Steingart and Ryan Mcallister.

The centre, founded by Subhash Chandra, has state-of-art facilities and is a Catskills and wellness destination that will offer therapies based on ancient Indian yoga and 'pranayam' breathing techniques.

A dream project of Dr Chandra, the centre is built on the Catskill Mountain in southeastern New York

In an effort to acknowledge this unique effort, the New York State Assembly honoured the Rajya Sabha member on Wednesday evening, a day before 4th International Yoga Day.

The centre will focus on providing customized therapies based on ancient Indian disciplines of Ayurveda and Yoga along with Naturopathy to address health concerns, improve mobility, increase longevity, alleviate pain and promote weight loss in a holistic manner.

The Yo1 was built at an estimated cost of Rs 25 crore. The 200-acre centre is spread across a lush green campus of 1400-acres.

YO1 Luxury Nature Cure has 131 guest rooms and suites. The Ayurvedic and Naturopathic therapies coupled with Yoga, Acupuncture, and Physiotherapy are designed to cleanse, detoxify and refresh you as part of the process
