Amid chanting of Modi Modi, a veteran BJP leader Bookanakere Siddalingappa alias BS Yeddyurappa (75) today was sworn in as the 23rd Karnataka Chief Minister at the lawns of Raj Bhavan. The Governor Vajubhai Vala administered the oath of office and secrecy. This is the third time Yeddyurappa has taken the oath as state CM.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP president Amit Shah and host of union ministers and national party leaders skipped the function.  However, senior ministers including Prakash Javadekar, Dharmendra Pradhan, JP Nadda and party leaders among others Muralidhar Rao were present during the searing in ceremony. BJP members, who were present inside and outside the Raj Bhavan were dancing, singing and shouting. Most of them said Yeddyurappa will comfortably prove the majority in the state assembly and complete five-year tenure. Besides, a large number of BJP supporters also gathered outside Yeddyurappa's residence to celebrate the moment.

Vala has asked Yeddyurappa to prove his majority in 15 days since he took the oath.

Nadda said BJP had got the mandate of the voters to rule the state. Union minister Ananthkumar said the Congress has been rejected by the voters.

Meanwhile, the Congress party has launched agitation near Karnataka Assembly to protest against swearing in of Yeddyurappa. However, Ananth Kumar criticised Congress party's move saying that they should agitate against Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for Congress party's sorry state of affairs.
