A day after Yakub Memon's hanging, reports have emerged that one of Dawood Ibrahim's closest aides, Chhota Shakeel is furious with the entire incident.

He reportedly called up the offices of a leading English daily to claim that Yakub's hanging was a 'legal murder'. He also accused the government of betraying Yakub Memon.

According to Shakeel, India's 'betrayal' has effectively ended all possibility of Dawood Ibrahim returning to India. "Dawood bhai would have met the same fate if he would have come at that time... it is clear now," said Shakeel.

Incidentally Dawood along with Tiger Memon planned the serial Bombay blast in 1993, where 257 innocents lost their life. Shakeel reportedly told the English daily that Yakub was innocent and was punished for his brother's act. He warned of consequences for this hanging, although he didn't elaborate on it.

He said in future, no one will be willing to cut a deal with the security agencies. Shakeel admitted to Tiger Memon's role in the entire case but claimed that Yakub had assisted in the entire probe.

He said that the government should hang the real culprit but it targeted people who were related to the person only. According to Shakeel, Yakub indeed had an 'understanding' with the agencies. However, Shakeel claimed that Tiger Memom has no connection with Dawood Ibrahim. In effect, he tried to pass the entire responsibility of the horrific serial blasts entirely on the shoulders of Tiger.

A few days back, former RAW officer B Raman's unpublished article on Yakub Memon came to light. In his 2007 article, Raman mentioned that certain mitigating evidences were not produced in the court. He also advocated that Yakub shouldn't be hanged. Referring to that article, Shakeel said that Indian security agencies don't trust their own officers. He also attacked Ujjwal Nikam and said that in the process of giving a message to terrorists, an innocent has been sent to gallows.
