Union Minister Prakash Javadekar on Tuesday said the results of the by polls are regional and to interpret them as a sign that support for Prime Minister Modi is waning was wrong.

Javadekar said, "The results of the by polls are regional, to interpret from the bypoll results that support for Prime Minister Modi is waning will be wrong. Let Maharashtra and Haryana polls come, we will show them our mettle."

"The by-poll results should only be given as much importance as it deserves and not more. These results merely reflect the regional issues and regional politics, and Congress and other parties will be doing a mistake by reading too much into it," he added.

Javadekar further said, "The assembly elections for four states are coming and I am confident that we will do well in them."

The counting for the by-poll results in 33 constituencies across 10 states took place today, with the BJP bagging only two out of 11 seats in UP; only one out of four seats in Rajasthan and winning seven out of nine seats in Gujarat.
