Barging into the office of noted Marathi writer Rajan Khan, a group of unidentified persons blackened the board of the office and hurled some pamphlets in the office on Monday. Through those pamphlets, the miscreants raised objection against the upcoming movie 'Halal' which is based on the novel written by Khan with the same title.

The incident took place on Monday afternoon at Akshar Manav publication's office run by Khan in Shukrawar Peth area. Khan was out of Pune when the group blackened the board and Khan's chair in the office. He was informed by his office staff over the phone.

Speaking to DNA about the incident, Khan said, "Nearly 40 years ago I have written the story of 'Halal' and I am sure that these people have not read that story. The movie based on that story is yet to be released and before reading the story or watching the movie, these people came to raise objection."

The movie 'Halal' is directed by Shivaji Lotan Patil and it has been screened in Cannes film festival and now it ready for release in theatres. Rajan told DNA that the group of miscreants probably wanted some publicity by objecting the movie and therefore they targeted his office.

He said, "Through my writing, I have always tried to touch upon human emotions, their sorrows. There is no question of writing against any particular community. When character is portrayed in any movie, it has to represent some community but it does not mean that my writing is against the community."

"I have no objection against criticising my writing but for that those people should first read it. These persons did not even know that Akshar Manav publication has nothing to do with the novel 'Halal'," Khan added.

When asked if he will be lodging any police complaint, Khan said, "I will take a call after reaching Pune. I am not sure if I should be giving any importance to these people by lodging complaint against them."
