Shiv Sena on Monday said it would not support the no-confidence motion moved by the TDP MPs in Lok Sabha. At the same time, Sena made it clear that it would support such a motion if it is moved over a national issue.

Shiv Sena MLA Sunil Prabhu, who is also former Mumbai mayor, stated in state assembly that Sena would have supported no-confidence motion against Narendra Modi government if it is brought for a larger national interest.

Earlier, leader of Opposition in state assembly Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil had asked whether Shiv Sena would support no-confidence motion in Lok Sabha. Vikhe-Patil had said that a farmer from Karad Rahul Phalke had committed suicide since his business had to be closed down as a result of demonetisation impact. Vikhe-Patil pointed out that since Phalke was a Shiv Sena active member, would Sena repay for Phalke's death by voting in favor of no confidence motion?

The Sena said the no-confidence motion by TDP has put an end to the "myth" that the BJP-led central government has an unshakable mandate for the next 25 years.

It, however, alleged that the TDP's move was driven by its own political compulsions, and said the no-confidence motion will be futile as the NDA government enjoys a majority.

There is an environment of mistrust in the country against the government and next year there will be a "blast of resentment" that is prevailing among people, it said.
