Tearing into the critics of Prime Minister Narendra Modi who call him “autocrat”, BJP president Amit Shah on Monday said they need to understand the basic difference between “a firm decision maker” and “an autocrat”.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has brought many reforms in the four-and-a-half year of his rule. This is really unprecedented. One must have guts to bring about such reforms in such a short span,” Shah said while inaugurating the book ‘Narendra Modi: Creative Disruptor, The Maker of New India’, authored by veteran journalist and BJP ideologue R Balashankar. “Earlier, one needed 30 years to find out the five reforms. But, I can list 30 reforms brought by PM Modi during his span of five years,” Shah said.

“The Modi government had inherited a very weak Indian economy from the Congress government. The economic parameters were at their abysmal low. But in just four-and-a-half years, the economy turned around,” the BJP president said.
