Congress on Monday condemned the incident in BJP-ruled Rajasthan where a woman was allegedly paraded half-naked upon suspicions that she had committed murder.

Mahila Congress chief and party spokesperson Shobha Oza told reporters here that it was unfortunate such incidents were happening in a state where a woman -- Vasundhara Raje -- was chief minister.

A 40-year-old woman was allegedly paraded half-naked on a donkey by some Panchayat members in Rajsamand district on the suspicion of being involved in a murder case, police said.
A case was registered against 39 people in the matter following a complaint filed by the victim's husband yesterday.

Meanwhile, newly appointed Haryana Congress Legislature Party leader Kiran Chowdhury today demanded a judicial inquiry into the alleged rape and murder of a nine-year-old girl at Narnaul even as it accused the new BJP government in the state of being lax in pursuing the matter.

Chowdhury told reporters here that the local police did not act in time to search the missing girl. "Neither the local MLA, nor the state home minister or the chief minister visited the area despite protests over the 10- day-old incident," Chowdhury said.
