A 24-year-old woman was killed and her toddler and a relative injured when a truck hit them while they were shopping for Eid-Ul-Fitr on Banda-Tanda national highway, police said on Saturday.
Sufiyan, a resident of Kasimpur village, was killed and her two-year-old son Shah Ahmad and a relative, Zubeda, were seriously injured when the truck hit them near Chand building in Jais here, a police officer said.
Sufiyan died on spot and injured were rushed to a hospital, he said.
The truck was taken into custody and investigation is underway, the officer added.
In a separate incident, Nandlal (58) was electrocuted when he touched a live wire connected with a shutter, police said.
Nandlal was rushed to the community health centre Amethi where he was declared brought dead by the doctors, they added.
