A woman employee of Himachal Pradesh University was on Tuesday stabbed allegedly by her male colleague in the varsity campus. Shelly Chauhan was allegedly attacked by Hari Dutt, both employed by HPU. After she raised an alarm, the accused was chased down and overpowered by varsity students, who handed him over to police. The victim sustained stab wounds to abdomen and head and was rushed to IGMC hospital, where doctors said she was out of danger.
Police suspect it to be a case of "one-sided affair". SP (Shimla) D W Negi said the accused is in police custody and a case of attempt to murder under section 307 of IPC has been registered against him.
