Woman accuses partner of rape after he refuses to marry her

A 27-year-old woman has accused her partner of rape for one and a half years after he promised her marriage. The two individuals became friends on social media a few years ago, police said.

In her complaint, the woman alleged that she had received a friend request from the accused on Facebook in December 2015 and she accepted it, after which they started meeting, they said.

The victim alleged that the accused had assured her of marriage and that he would also accept her daughter, police said.

She said the accused and his family refused to accept her and threatened her with dire consequences if she reported the matter to anyone, police said.

The victim, who has separated from her husband, approached the police on July 10 and a case was registered at the Vasant Kunj Police Station. The matter is being probed, police said.
