In a world that is increasingly coming under the spell of fake and motivated news, Wion TV is the need of the hour. India's multi-splendoured media had one glaring gap that needed to be filled in: a truly global TV channel. Wion has successfully moved in to fill that space since its launch in June 2016.

In the line of global TV networks like the BBC, CNN and Al Jazeera, Wion - which suitably stands for World is One News – represents the truly Indian perspective.

As the recent reportage on Kashmir reveals, the so-called global channels have gone on an anti-Indian offensive, presenting fake news, showing unverified coverage and fanning passions instead of dousing flames.

Wion's coverage of India's immediate neighbourhood, South Asia, is without a parallel. In these difficult times, an economic powerhouse like India needs a global channel that reports the world and not several hundred TV channels and media outlets that only look inward. A global superpower is best represented in a globally branded TV channel and here, Wion comes out on top.

"Wion is the only global TV channel from India that focuses on international issues and where debate is sober and well informed," says well known Pakistan expert, Sushant Sareen.

With its recent signing of a partnership with Russian media major Sputnik in Vladivostok, Wion has further increased its global footprint. Wion and Sputnik exchanged letters of intent on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in the backdrop of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's two-day visit to Russia. Two global powerhouses have joined hands.
