Winter starts settling in Punjab, Haryana

Winters started settling in most parts of Punjab and Haryana today with the day temperatures across the region hovering around two degrees Celsius below normal. According to MeT office, the maximum temperatures in most parts of Punjab and Haryana hovered between two to four notches below normal, the MeT office said here. Besides, some places in the region, including Karnal, Bhiwani, Bathinda and Kapurthala had foggy conditions in the morning.

Ambala was coldest in plains of Punjab and Haryana with a day temperature of 28.1 degrees C, which was two notches below normal. While Narnaul recorded 28.2 degrees C, four notches below normal, the maximum temperature at Chandigarh was 28.7 degrees C, two notches below normal. Among other places, Bhiwani and Ludhiana had an identical day temperature of 29.4 degrees C followed by 29.5 degrees C at Patiala, one notch below normal and 30.7 degrees C at Hisar, two notches below normal.

The MeT office, in a forecast, said weather may remain cloudy in the region during the next 24 hours.
