Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Tuesday that it would be his endeavour to take Maharashtra on the path of progress by emulating the late Yashwantrao Chavan.

"Chavan has shown us how to work in the political system and handle the state administration. We have decided to emulate him and take Maharashtra forward on the path shown by him," Fadnavis said, paying tributes to the late Congress stalwart at Karad on his death anniversary.

Chavan, the first Chief Minister of Maharashtra who also handled several important portfolios at the Centre, passed away on November 25, 1984.

NCP chief Sharad Pawar, considered to be Chavan's find and protege, also visited 'Pritisangam', the late leader's memorial at Karad, and paid his tributes on Tuesday.
