The newly-elected international president of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) Vishnu Sadashiv Kokje said on Monday in Ayodhya that the Supreme Court final verdict on the land dispute case will be in favour of Hindus to begin construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya.

It was Kokje’s first visit to Ayodhya after becoming the new VHP International President. He offered prayers at the Hanumangarhi temple and paid obeisance at the makeshift temple Ramjanambhoomi temple after taking a holy dip in the river Saryu. The VHP Chief also visited Karsevakpuram to inspect progress of stones being carved for the use in the construction of Ram temple.

Talking to media at Karsevakpuram in Ayodhya on Monday, Kokje said that VHP’s main objective is to ensure early construction of Ram temple at the birthplace of Lord Ram. He said that Muslims in Ayodhya supports construction of Ram temple but organizations like Muslim Personal Law Board, which is not party in the ongoing case, is intimidating Muslims on the issue.

He claimed that an out of court settlement of the dispute was also possible provided that only litigants sit across the table and accept the VHP offer to hand over the Ramjanambhoomi land to Hindus for another piece of land, away from the temple construction site. The new VHP Chief said that a few Muslim organisations are creating hurdles in the construction of Ram temple but they will not succeed.

“I am hopeful that the Supreme Court will deliver judgment in our favour. Otherwise, we will ask the Central government to bring an Ordinance to acquire the entire land for the construction of the Ram temple, in case the verdict is not to our satisfaction,” he declared .

Listing his other priorities, Kokje said the VHP will continue to work for cow protection and uniting Hindus as a society.  During his two-day visit to Ayodhya, the new VHP Chief will hold a series of meetings with the Ram Janambhoomi Nyas Chairman Mahanat Nritya Gopal Das, Jagadguru Pushottamacharya, representatives of Nirmohi Akhara, Ram Lala Viraajmaan, Chief Priest of makeshift temples, local RSS, VHP and Bajrang Dal leaders etc to discuss the strategy for early construction of Ram temple.

Kokje is accompanied by VHP Vice-President Champat Rai, Organizing Secretary Vinayak Rao Desh Pandey, Pushottam Naraian Singh and Spokesperson Sharad Sharma.
