Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is on a spree of apologising to political leaders over certain statements he made against them to bring a halt to his defamation woes.  Over the last couple of days, Kejriwal has tendered apologies to Congress and BJP leaders, and now, Kejriwal's apology to Finance Minister Arun Jaitley could come in the next date of hearing of the case.

However, according to reports, getting the Jaitley defamation matter closed would not be an easy task for the Aam Aadmi party convenor. Reports said that Jaitley may consider the matter if all the people named in the defamation suit tender  apology.

The AAP leaders had accused Jaitley of financial irregularities in the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) of which he was the president from 2000 to 2013, leading the Minister to lodge a defamation cases against them.

Besides Kejriwal and Raghav Chadha, the other AAP leaders include Vishwas, Ashutosh, Sanjay Singh and Deepak Bajpai were also made party to the defamation case for allegedly making controversial statements. A civil defamation suit was also filed by Jaitley before the Delhi High Court in the matter seeking Rs 10 crore as damages and the matter is currently pending.

Earlier this year, Kejriwal and Jaitley break bread at a dinner session on Goods and Services Tax Council (GST).

The two leaders, who are opposing parties in a defamation case, were seen sitting beside one another during the session, as per images released by the official twitter handle of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Kejriwal is also likely to issue an apology to former Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit and BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri.

Last week, the AAP leader had written to Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari expressing regret over certain statements. Following which, Kejriwal and Gadkari submitted a joint application before the court seeking withdrawal of the defamation case filed against the AAP leader.

Kejriwal has tendered an apology to Congress leader Kapil Sibal and Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia. He has drawn flak from within the party and outside for his apology spree but AAP leaders say it is a strategy by the legal team to shed court cases, in which the party convenor is mired.
