Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray on Sunday launching a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and questioned why he takes all the foreign leaders to Ahmedabad.

The MNS chief made the remarks while addressing party workers at a rally at Shivaji Park in central Mumbai.

"When I speak, you call me narrow-minded.... because I speak about Marathi people from Maharashtra, then what else is Narendra Modi doing even after being the Prime Minister. When foreign leaders come, Modi takes them all to Ahmedabad. Is it the only city in the country," said Raj Thackeray.

"Why don't you take them to Chennai, Calcutta, Bengaluru, Pune.. why not take them all to Mumbai," asked the MNS chief.

"For years, I have been saying.. even after being the prime minister, Modi still loves his state. Check the footage, I had said in 2014. If he (Modi) is going to be the Prime Minister then every state has to be equal for him," Raj said.

The MNS chief also read out a list of the foreign leaders Modi had taken to Ahmedabad during their state visit.

Raj Thackeray also hit out at Narendra Modi over Bullet Train project. "Railways report says 45% going to Gujarat are running empty. If people are not travelling why do we need Bullet Train. Even people from Gujarat doesn't want it."

Calling for Opposition unity and a "Modi-mukt  Bharat" by 2019, Raj Thackeray said, "The country is fed up with the false promises made by Narendra Modi and his government."

All opposition parties should come together to get rid of the BJP-led NDA government to ensure 'Modi-mukt Bharat', he said, reminding the audience of BJP's 'Congress-mukt Bharat' slogan.

If the Modi government was ousted and an inquiry is ordered into demonetisation, it (the note-ban) may turn out to be the biggest scam ever since 1947, he said.

Quoting a report of ISRO, Thackeray said, "A large-scale desertification of Maharashtra is going on due to depletion of groundwater. After Rajasthan, our state has reported the second highest rate of desertification in country."

Raj Thackeray also said that he was in favour of building a Ram temple in Ayodhya, but it should not be used as an election issue, he said.

"The Babri Masjid demolition case is in the Supreme Court and it will be deliberately discussed in the coming days to instigate communal riots," he said.

"Ram Mandir should be built, but it should not be used as an election plank to divide the society and win votes," he said.
