The conflict over bungalow number 2 Tughlaq Road took a new turn on Friday. While the government has has asked RLD chief Ajit Singh to vacate the house which he was occupying in the capacity of a minister in the UPA government, Singh has questioned the pick and choose policy being followed by the BJP government.

"Why is the government not asking former BJP MPs Yashwant Sinha and Shahnawaz Hussain to vacate their houses," questioned Ajit Singh.

He also hit out at the government, questioning as to why the ministers of the earlier NDA government occupied bungalows for last ten years. "You go back, the ministers of NDA lived for ten years in the houses they were not entitled to. It's true that I am not entitled to live in this house and will not live there but why did they occupy the bungalows they were not entitled to for ten years," questioned the RLD chief.

Ajit Singh who was earlier playing to the gallery took a U-turn today. "I am with the farmers who demand that the house be converted to the memorial. When other senior leaders can have a memorial, why can't there be a memorial for Charna Singh," he said.

The Directorate of Estates has sent eviction notices to many former MPs for vacating the house. The New Delhi Municipal Corporation last week had disconnected the water and power supply of these bungalows. However, the government has giving an extension to both Sinha and Hussain. An extension has also been given to the former Jammu and Kashmir MP Farooq Abdullah, owing to security reasons.
