This is not the last innings of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as it is strategising for another victory in 2019 and give the country a strong government till 2024, BJP president Amit Shah said at the Zee India Conclave here on Saturday.

"We will get more seats than 2014," he said without giving any numbers they were targeting.

Shah noted that the BJP has formed governments in 20 states, and Karnataka will be another addition a few months from now.

Recently, the BJP stormed to power in Tripura, a Left bastion for 25 years. It also formed an alliance government in Nagaland and ensured the Congress didn't form a government in Meghalaya despite being the single largest party there.

Commenting on the no-confidence motion moved against the government in Parliament, he said the NDA government is in majority and there is no fear of the numbers falling.

"We are ready for a discussion on it, but the Opposition does not let Parliament function. They know they will lose the no-confidence motion," Shah said.

Expressing confidence about the BJP's future prospects, he said he is never under pressure and makes sure that his political rivals feel the pressure.

On a question about the elections being contested as Modi vs All, Shah said this shows the party's strength that all the opposition parties has to come together to take them on. He said that earlier it used to be Indira Gandhi vs All, that's changed now.

Commenting on the BSP-SP alliance in the recent bypolls in Uttar Pradesh, where BJP was defeated, he said it only shows the party is rising in the state and two rivals had to come together to face an identity crisis.

Mocking at the Congress, Shah said they have lost in every state and are happy that the BJP lost a few seats in bypolls. "The Congress has not won, but they are celebrating that we lost."

"We snatched away 11 states from them, what are they talking about?"

Taking a dig at Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, Shah said his elevation as president of the Congress party will not make a difference in the coming elections. "The country knew at his birth that he will be Congress president," he said amid laughter in the audience.

Speaking about alliances and Congress leader Sonia Gandhi hosting dinners to forge ties with political parties to take on the BJP, Shah said, "They don't realise that those attending dinner are in touch with us as well."

Denying that the party has been arrogant after tasting success in elections across the country, Shah said the BJP has just started to win and hence there is no question of arrogance.

He added that the party has been taking the bypoll defeats seriously and has been analysing what went wrong. He defended the Yogi Adityanath leadership in UP for fighting corruption ruthlessly and maintaining law and order.

Hitting out at the Congress for accusing the BJP of indulging in politics of hate and dividing people on the basis of religion, Shah said this is a new kind of politics where they have started creating fear.

"We have won three consecutive elections in Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh and Tripura where the BJP got 50 per cent votes. This is unprecedented, and one made possible by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's popularity," he said.
