Allegations have been made against Congress party leaders over possibility of poll riggings during the eight phase of the Lok Sabha elections, especially in Amethi.

Circulating images of Rahul Gandhi interacting with voters at polling booths here Wednesday while polling was on for the Amethi Lok Sabha seat, both the BJP and the AAP alleged that the Congress is trying to influence voters on election day.

The images showed the Congress vice president talking to voters inside a polling booth in Amethi, while another image showed him looking at an EVM while a voter stands next to him.

The images were shared on the Twitter handles of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Just earlier today,BJP candidate Smriti Irani, in a dramatic showdown in front of national news cameras, accused Priyanka Gandhi's secretary of trying to influence voters in Amethi and urged the Election Commission to take note of the development and necessary action.

Later, the District Magistrate orders Priyanka Gandhi's PA to leave Amethi.

Since then, social media is flooded with pictures showing Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi at Amethi's polling booth.

A similar tweet was put out by the news agency ANI:

Although, as per the EC rule book there is nothing that stops the contesting candidates to be present at the polling stations. It must also be noted that the very BJP candidates raising objections were themselves out and about touring polling booths to ensure fair elections.
