At least 10 people were injured when two coaches and the engine of Guwahati-bound Capital Express from Bihar's Rajendra Nagar Terminal derailed in North Bengal on Tuesday night.

Preliminary reports suggest three people have suffered injuries and several are trapped inside. Around 9.15pm, the engine and two coaches of the UP-Capital Express train derailed near the Samuktala Road station at Alipurduar district. North East Frontier Railway officials said an accident relief train has already reached the spot from Alipurduar along with senior railway officials.

Meanwhile, the Alipurduar DRM Sanjiv Kishore and other district police officials have rushed to the spot. A rescue operation has begun and officials are trying to pull out all those trapped inside. On the other hand, several trains have been stalled across stations of Bengal.
