West Bengal: One killed after rival groups in youth TMC clash in South 24 Parganas

One person was killed and several others including three policemen were injured as two groups clashed at Phulmaloncho village in Basanti area of South 24 Parganas district today.

A police officer said several persons received splinter and bullet wounds while one Mujibur Rehman Mallik died on the spot as the two groups, allegedly belonging to rival factions of the same party, attacked each other with bombs and fired shots.

Three policemen, including the officer in charge of Basanti police station Ardhendusekhar De were also injured while trying to stop the clash between the two warring groups, the officer said.

The deceased Mallik was a Trinamool Youth Congress leader, a local TMC youth unit claimed.

One person was shot dead in clash between two groups at Chunakhali in Basanti area yesterday.
