The counting of votes will be held on October 9.

A day after the West Bengal State Election Commission announced deferring of vote counting, the state election commissioner Sushanta Ranjan Upadhyay announced re-polling of several wards of Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation. "After we received several complaints, we have decided to carry out re-polling at several wards of Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation on October 8," said Upadhyay.
Besides Bidhannagar, several wards of Asansol and Howrah Municipal Corporation will also go through re-polling. The counting of votes will be held on October 9.
On Monday, Trinamool Congress staged a day-long sit-in led by mayor Sovan Chatterjee in front of the state election commission office demanding immediate vote counting after the commission deferred it.
