A 35-year-old woman was killed by her husband, who allegedly tortured her by thrusting a stick into her private parts because she had opposed to his extra-marital affair.

Gedu Sheikh, a resident of Chhakramari village of Pukhuria area and a truck driver by profession used to have regular domestic problem with his wife Minu Bibi because of Gedu's illicit affair with a widow of the area. There had been several occasions when neighbours and relatives tried to counsel him, but to no avail. Gedu used to beat up Minu regularly.
On Thursday morning neighbours found Minu's body lying on the floor of their residence. Neighbours informed police and officials of Pukhuria PS came and recovered the body. It has been sent for a postmortem at Malda Medical College Hospital.
Minu's uncle Sk Murshid said that for about two years, Gedu had been involved in an illicit affair with Shahnoor. "About a year ago, while their affair was on, Shahnoor's husband was found dead. His body was found in one of the orchards, with multiple wounds. Since then, Gedu's and Shahnoor's relationship had gained momentum and whenever Minu objected, she was beaten up mercilessly," Murshid said.
He received the news of Minu's death on Thursday morning. "When I arrived at their place, there was blood everywhere, she had bled from her private parts as well. Her body was full of injury marks. I was told that she was found hanging and that Gedu had brought down her body. Looking at the marks on her body and throat, I am sure that a stick or something had been thrust in her private part to torture her, and then she had been strangled to death."
It has also been alleged that Shahnoor was present there when the murder took place and together after killing Minu, they had hung her to make it look like a suicide.
Minu's family members have filed a written complaint with the police against Gedu. "We have received a complaint. Whether or not anything had been thrust into to her private parts is subject to investigation. A probe is on. Only the husband has been named in the complaint but he is absconding as of now. We are looking for him," SP Arnab Ghosh told DNA.
