Just as West Bengal is reeling from ATM card fraud, now brown paper instead of money has come out from one of the ATMs in the state.  The incident has taken place in an ATM located in Bally, in Kolkata neighbouring Howrah district of the state. Instead of Rs 2000, just a brown paper came out when a person swiped his card, reports Zee 24 Ghanta

On Wednesday morning, a person named Vijay Pande went to an ATM of Bank of India. He wanted to take out Rs 6000 from the ATM. But alongside, two 2000 notes, one piece of brown paper came out of the machine. Immediately he alerted the Bank of India authorities. The officials have promised to probe the entire incident.

This comes at a time when people of Kolkata have been hit by a card skimming scam. More than 70 such cases have been reported recently. The police have found out Romanians behind the scam. Three Romanians have been arrested on Wednesday in connection with the racket. They are originally residents of Mumbai. According to police, they had installed a skimmer in a Kasba ATM to steal sensitive card data to get money. Similarly they had installed a skimmer in a New Market ATM but didn't manage to get money from there.

Two Romanians arrested last week from New Delhi for their alleged involvement in the recently reported ATM fraud cases in Kolkata might have links to their fellow countrymen held from other cities in similar cases, police said.

Kolkata Police arrested two Romania nationals Opera Obidu Simon (31) and Dumidru Caling (32), from New Delhi's Munirka area, when they were about to enter an ATM kiosk. It is apparently the same kiosk from where fraudulent withdrawals had been made using fake ATM cards in the past couple of weeks, a Kolkata Police officer said.
