Providing some relief to Group C and D employees from the cash crunch following demonetization of high-value currencies, the West Bengal government on Monday allowed them to draw advance salary.

A government release said that to reduce the hardship faced by Group C and Group D employees of the state government and all other state employees whose posts were equivalent to Group C and Group D might draw part salary or wages in advance in cash. Some employees are allowed Rs 5,000 from the salary of December while others are allowed Rs 2,000, it said.

Those wanting to receive cash payout in advance should apply by November 25 while cash would be disbursed to them from their offices by November 30, the release said.
