The Government of West Bengal has formed a task force to probe the recent blast at Khagragarh in Burdwan District in which two persons were killed.

West Bengal Home Secretary Basudev Banerjee said in Kolkata last night that the Director General of Police G.M. P. Reddy will lead the task force and co- ordinate with various investigating agencies like the CID , Kolkata Police and others, during the probe.

Banerjee said the state government is also in touch with the National Investigating Agency (NIA) on the matter.

He rejected the view that Al-Qaeda could have had a hand in the blast.

Meanwhile, a local court has remanded two women arrested in connection with the blast to police custody till October 9.

The opposition in the state, including the Left Front and the BJP have criticized the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress state government for its alleged failures on the law and order front.
