Two people were killed in the post-poll violence that continued till Friday morning in Burdwan district of West Bengal.

They have been identified as CPM's supporters and CPM's polling agent.

In a clash between the CPM and Trinamool Congress cadres, the former party's supporters were allegedly attacked by Trinamool Congress supporters with sharp objects.

While one died on the spot, other affiliated to the CPM was rushed to the Burdwan Medical College and Hospital with sharp injuries. He died in the morning.

However, the Trinamool Congress block president Alok Majhi ruled ruled out that his party spearheaded the attack.

Meanwhile, the police is yet to make any arrests. "No arrests have been made so far in the case. Two companies of Central Forces have been deployed in the district to prevent the post poll violence," said Gaurav Sharma, Superintendent of Police, Burdwan District.

Burdwan district went to the polls on Thursday in the third phase of assembly elections.
