West Bengal Class XII results declared at wbchse.nic.in: Topper from Arts stream after 5 years

West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) announced the result of Class XII on Friday, 58 days after the examination was concluded. Girls have again fared better than boys with superior pass percentage in 18 districts. The total pass percentage this year is 83.75%.

Granthan Sengupta from Jalpaiguri district topped with 496 out of 500, scoring 99.2%. After five years, a student from the Arts stream has stood first. Hrithik Kumar Sahoo from Tamluk district secured 493 or 98.6%. He is first among the OBC (B) students. Two students – Timir Baran Das and Sashwata Roy – have stood jointly third with 490 or 98% marks.

Among the girls, Abhradipta Ghosh and Anima Gharai had stood jointly first and fifth overall, with 486 or 97.2%.

As against 56 students who ranked in the top 10 in Madhyamik or Class X board examination, 80 students have entered the top 10 merit list of Higher Secondary examination. The total number of students who appeared for HS was 8,04,895 of whom 6,63,516 got through. Overwhelming number of toppers are zillas and Kolkata has been left far behind. 

The number of students who got over 90% is 5,248 while number of students who got between 80 and 89% is 41,428. As many as 2,50,961 students scored over 60% marks. Students from East Midnapore and Kalimpong have scored over 90%. Students will get their marksheets on Friday itself from 56 distribution centres. The tentative date for HS examination next year is February 26, 2019 and to be tentatively concluded on March 13, 2019.

The students can check the results through the official websites wbchse.nic.in and wbresults.nic.in. Results can also be checked at examresults.net.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee congratulated all successful students. ‘Congratulations to all students who excelled and those who passed the Higher Secondary Examination. Best wishes for all your future endeavours. Good wishes to your teachers and families’, she tweeted.
