West Bengal: Clash during admission form distribution, people throw stones, brickbats

Police on Tuesday lathicharged to disperse two groups who were fighting over distribution of forms for admission to class XI in Akandaberia High School at Kaliachak in Malda district.

Forms for admission to class XI in the school were being distributed. Some people alleged that forms were given to those students who don't even have the qualifying marks and a clash broke out between two groups, police said.

Superintendent of Police of Malda Prasun Bandopadhyay said a police team went to the spot and tried to disperse the two warring groups.

But the two groups threw stones and brickbats towards the police. The police then lathicharged to disperse the people, the SP said.

Two police constables were injured in the firing, but SP Bandopadhyay said the situation was now under control.
