People in Howrah were stunned by a gory sight at midnight on Wednesday when a man was spotted burning alive and seeking help.
CCTV footage captured the man, identified as Sukku Shaw, burning alive and running from pillar to post, with no one stepping forward to help. The footage also shows a group of locals dispersing immediately after spotting him.

Later, two locals stepped forward and doused the fire with the help of a blanket. The same locals admitted Shaw to the hospital where he is now undergoing treatment. Shaw suffered 55% burn injuries and is in a serious condition.
It is not clear how the man was set on fire.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered against one Surinder at the Malipanchghara police station and the police on the lookout for the accused.
