West Bengal: After BJP workers found hanging, CPI(M) alleges TMC shot party worker who won Panchayat polls

After two BJP workers were found dead in West Bengal's Purulia district in the past five days, the CPI(M) has now alleged that workers from West Bengal-led Trinamool Congress government have attacked a party worker in the state's Coochbehar district.

Taking to Twitter, the CPI (M) said, "Atabul Islam, a student leader of CPIM had won the Panchayat Polls from Jamaldaha, Mekhliganj in face of grave threats from TMC goons. Today  TMC goons attacked his house in Coochbehar, Bengal. His uncle Ramjan Ali was shot dead and 7 family members including himself and his father are in a critical condition in the hospital.

Our Comrades bear the brunt of TMC's murderous violence as TMC snuffs out democracy in Bengal!"

The CPI(M) also shaered some gory images of the incident on Twitter.

Earlier in the day, the BJP leadership in the state called for a 12-hour bandh at Balarampur, to protest the deaths of the two party workers, allegedly at the hand of 'TMC goons'.

On May 31, the body of 18-year-old Trilochan Mahato, member of the district BJP youth wing was found hanging at Supurdi village with a message on his T Shirt saying it was the result of him supporting BJP.

On Saturday, 32-year-old Dulal Kumar’s body was found hanging from a high-tension electric pole in Dabha village of Balarampur area.

Both incidents have been criticised by political parties, who have asked West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to take prompt action
