West Bengal: 30 injured in road mishap in Malda

At least 30 people of a marriage party including the bride and groom were injured when the vehicle they were traveling in overturned near Maheshtala in Malda district, police said on Sunday.

At least 30 people of a marriage party including the bride and groom were injured when the vehicle they were traveling in overturned near Maheshtala in Malda district, police said on Sunday.

A mini-truck carrying 29 people turned turtle after a tyre of the vehicle burst. The driver of the vehicle was also injured. The marriage party was returning from Lakhsmi Narayanpur village in South Dinajpur district to Sitalpur village in Malda district last night, police said.

The bride and groom suffered fractures in their hands and legs in the accident. 15 injured have been admitted to Malda Medical College and Hospital and the rest to a local health centre, they said.
