Unmoved by the defeat in the recent elections, former CM  Ashok Gehlot said on Sunday though the Congress has 21 MLAs, it has a lot to say in the Assembly. He said the Congress would extend full cooperation and expect the new government expedites schemes started by the previous government.

“So what if we have 21 MLAs. We have a lot to say. What wonders did they do when they had 78 legislators last time,” he said while speaking on foundation day celebrations of the Seva Dal.

Gehlot said that Congress is a 128-year-old party with a glorious past and has witnessed many ups and downs. He said after results of Assembly polls, the AICC chief said two important things to party leaders. First, ensure unity among the party leaders and workers; and second, ensure discipline.

Gehlot appealed all the Congressmen to forget their personal differences and come forward to strengthen the party.

About the frequent manhandling at recent meeting of the district Congress committees of Jodhpur and Jaipur and also in PCC on the foundation day, he said there is no resentment among the workers. The incidents were blown out of proportion. About selecting the leader of the Opposition, Gehlot said there is no delay deciding the name and the party high command will declare it before the new Assembly resumes.

About BJP reviewing the work done by Congress government in the past six months, he said there is nothing new and every new government undertakes such exercises.
