Evading arrest for over a month, Honeypreet Insan ran out of luck on Tuesday when her SUV was intercepted by the Haryana Police near Punjab border.

Soon, Dera Sacha Sauda Chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh's 'adopted daughter' was in custody of the police near Panchkula, the place that started it all.

Talking to the DNA, Panchkula Police Commissioner AS Chawla revealed that his men were on alert since Monday evening after they got specific input that Honeypreet was in Chandigarh.

“Our team was located in Zirakpur. We had three senior police officers there. She was rounded up near Gurdwara on that road. We shifted her to an interrogation room and informed the Punjab police. We had made all arrangements so that she does not escape,” Chawla said.

When asked if he received cooperation from the Punjab Police, he said he does not want to comment on it.

Talking about Honeypreet, Chawla said, “she showed initial resistance when she was apprehended.”

Chawla said the priority is to investigate Honeypreet's role in instigating violence on August 25.

“All accused in Dera violence will be arrested following her interrogation. We will seek her police remand and will have to produce her in court tomorrow,” he added.
