Things aren’t looking good for the Aam Aadmi Party. After getting wiped out in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections, there has been a lot of infighting within the party, and on Friday senior party leader Kumar Vishvas lashed out at party leader, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejiwal.

In an exclusive interview with India Today, Vishvas questioned Kejriwal’s claim that the Electronic Voting Machines were faulty. “We did not lose because of the EVMs. There was mistrust amongst people for us,” he said.

The poet-turned-politician said that the EVMs may have played a minor factor, but the party failed to reach out to the voters and the volunteers. "This is our sixth defeat because we were disconnected with volunteers. EVMs should not be blamed solely. We lost because people did not vote for us."

Questioning the party leadership, Vishvas said that there needs to be a change. “Instead of blaming others, we need to introspect on the loss,” he said.

Vishvas also slammed the leadership for taking decisions without consulting party members. “Ticket distribution was wrong. People from the Congress and the Akali were given tickets. Many decisions were taken inside closed door," he said.

Slamming Kejiwal on his stand on the surgical strikes that the Indian Army conducted on Pakistan, Vishvas said that it was wrong of the Delhi Chief Minister to question Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

On the question if there is need to change the leadership, Kumar Vishvas said, "We will discuss this in the party soon."
