In the run up to the International Yoga Day on June 21, Zee Media in association with Castrol has initiated a comprehensive campaign addressing the health and fitness concerns of people who literally drive our economy – the truck drivers.

Zee Media in association with Castrol seek to make the treacherous journey of our truck drivers smooth by launching Truck Aasana campaign. The initiative kickstarted with the release of a Castrol research report around health and fitness issues faced by truck drivers by Minister of Road, Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi on June 18, Monday.

And a day ahead of the International Yoga Day, our campaign will travel to Baddi in Himachal Pradesh where we will be joined by hundreds of truck drivers who will get valuable tips on how to keep themselves fit through Yoga. The morning event propagates the idea of living a healthy lifestyle among India's commercial vehicle workforce.

Lauding the initiative, Mr Gadkari said: “We all know that road accidents are a major hurdle faced by the Indian transportation industry. And truck drivers, who toil for long hours on our highways, are always at the receiving end. This campaign by Zee Media and Castrol will go a long way in bringing a positive change in the lives of these unsung heroes of the Indian trucking industry. If they stay fit and healthy, road fatalities will come down.”

The event focusses on sensitizing the truck drivers and owners community about health and fitness. A morning filled with happiness and health is what the Truck Aasana aims at.

Kedar Apte, VP, Marketing, Castrol India, said: “We have been working with truck drivers as they are an integral part of India’s transport industry. Our long experience with them tells us that they are dogged by health issues. As a step in this direction to alleviate their condition, we tied up with The Yoga Institute to work out certain Aasanas, specially designed for the trucking industry. “

He added: “This initiative will help us in attracting young talent to the industry. We expect that the stereotypes will be broken and more people will join the industry.”

Mehraj Dube, Marketing Head of ZEE Media said: "This is a phenomenal initiative and we all at ZEE Media are very proud of being a part of it. Truck drivers are the backbone of India’s flourishing economy, so if they are healthy, our economy remains healthy."

“ZEE Media is happy to partner with Castrol in this great initiative and we hope yoga will help truck drivers, the way oil helps a truck,” he added.
