On TV, Arnab Goswami is a fiery anchor who looks like he doesn’t know the meaning of the word ‘calm’ but it appears that the anchor is quite a different personality off-screen. In an interview with Red FM, Goswami appeared more like a jolly uncle than an angry journalist as he spoke in Assamese with RJ Mandy revealing that he is actually a ‘good listener’.

In the interview, Arnab also said that he leads a ‘normal life’, and is a ‘normal family man’ and people at social functions are shocked to see him not shouting or loudly!

He also took a pot-shot at his earlier channel (NDTV), saying that the clam, quiet discussions weren’t for him. He said: “Earlier, in studio, I used to have very calm, quiet discussions…so I used to really miss debating. Later when I got the chance to start a new channel of my own, then I really came back to my old habits. And the last 7-8 years my hobby, school hobby of debating, has become my career. And I have never enjoyed myself more on a daily basis.”

He also revealed why he is wary of frequently using the famous catchphrase ‘The nation wants to know’. He told RJ Mandy: "Now I have become so conscious because of this line, wherever I go people say Nation wants to know. When I go to the movies, people say 'Nation wants to know'. Now they sell t-shirts that say 'Nation wants to know'. Now before I speak, I start thinking - should I say it or not? Again will I be misunderstood? It was supposed to be a serious line but it has become a comic line. That's why now instead of saying nation wants to know, I say country wants to know or I want to know or you want to know."
