A day after launching GST, PM Modi along with FM Jailtey and Chief Ministers of several states were present at the Institute of Charters Accountants (ICAI) on their Founders’ day and also to launch a new course for the institute.

Such an occasion deserves a grand music but the song they chose might lead to some embarrassment for the institute. Someone at ICAI seemed to decide that the best choice was to play Darth Vader’s Imperial March theme to introduce the PM as he launched a new CA course and said a few words.

While the theme music of one of fiction’s biggest villains is hardly an appropriate way to introduce one’s PM, perhaps someone at ICAI thought Modi was a fan, given that he has referenced Star Wars in the past.

In 2014 September, PM Modi famously stood at Madison Square Garden with Wolverine actor Hugh Jackman and had told a packed audience: “May the force be with you.”

Check out the video below (theme music starts from 2 hours and 26 minutes and after the speech at 3 hours 30 minutes):

Incidentally, the speech also ended with Darth Vader theme music!

May the Force Be With You

During his speech, PM Modi warned that life was going to get tougher for black money hoarders. He had said: “Impact of our steps to check is clear from latest figures of Swiss banks, where Indians' money has dipped to record low. If you know anyone with black money, warn them that they would not be spared,” said PM Modi.

"Two years from now when Swiss Banks start giving real time data, people who deposited money in foreign banks will face tough time," PM Modi said at an event organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).

Launching the new course he said: "I am hopeful the new course will boost the financial skills of people joining this profession. We need to develop a dynamic system in our institutions and human resources to meet the global benchmarks and requirements," Modi said. "We will have to see how we can bring technology in the CA field. If chartered accountant firms think of technological innovation, new software, it will open a new market for you.”
