Even though few BJP leaders have supported RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat's controversial statement that conversion to Christianity was the main objective behind Mother Teresa's service to the poor, former BJP MP Navjot Singh Sidhu seems to have had a different experience, which he had shared during a television show.

During the sixth season of reality show 'Bigg Boss', BJP leader and former Member of Parliament from Amritsar, Navjot Singh Sidhu had shared the experience of his first meeting with Mother Teresa at Missionaries of Charity.

Recalling the moments, Sidhu had said that when he had gone to visit Mother Teresa to offer donation, she told him that she did not wanted money, but his time.

Sidhu had also mentioned how he was forced to wait outside the hospital due to the smell of decaying bodies, while Mother Teresa was taking care of sick people.

A controversial statement by Bhagwat had sparked a nation wide outrage and flak from political parties across the lines, which also reflected in Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha. However, accusing Congress of trying to make "political capital" out of Bhagwat's remarks, BJP leader Meenakshi Lekhi claimed that Mother Teresa had herself in an interview said that her job was to bring people to the fold of Christianity. Even, Saffron outfit Shiv Sena had backed Bhagwat's statement.
