In a major embarrassment to the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh, a viral video from Agra University shows miscreants are seen helping students cheat while brandishing a gun.
The video shows students copying from textbooks while a gun-toting man stands in the room. The incident took place in Krishna Academy which is situated in Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University in Agra. While some reports say it was a BA 1st year report, others suggest it was a botany exam for BSc first year students.
Vice-Chancellor Dr. Arvind Kumar Dixit has initiated an investigation into the matter and has said that the case would be probed with the help of police and administration.
The incident was first reported by a Shiv Sena minister who said that they received information regarding mass cheating in the said college through sources. Thereafter, some of the party workers reached the college and recorded the entire incident on camera.
Veenu Lavania, the district president of Shiv Sena, told The Times of India, “We found that students from five private colleges were giving the exam at Krishna Academy. We found out that the academy was an exam centre for students of only three colleges. In one of the classrooms, we found 25 students sitting on floor and copying answers from chits, while a man with a gun was keeping a tab on them. When we tried to confront him, he fled from there.”
Just a few days ago, Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma had held a meeting stating strict measures were in place and Special Investigation Team (SIT) would be keeping a close eye over examinations being held in the state.
