Watch: Security agencies conduct mock drill at Kashmere Gate Metro station to deal with IED blast, chemical attack

How would security agencies deal with chemical attacks at Delhi Metro? To asses the preparedness of security agencies in the handling of chemical attacks, a mock drill was conducted at Delhi's Kashmere Gate Metro station on Friday.

Scheduled for 12.50 am after the metro stations were closed for the day, the mock drill was conducted amid threats by Pakistan-based terror groups which could launch a terror strike in the national capital after India's decision to end the special status of Jammu and Kashmir. 

In view of the terror threat in the capital, a mock drill was conducted to test various agencies' alertness and coordination in dealing with a chemical attack or IED blasts.

Senior officials told Zee Media that the mock drill was conducted in the wake of a terror alert in the national capital. 

As part of the drill, an alert was sounded that terrorists had attacked the Kashmera Gate Metro station at 12:50 am. Three back to back blasts took place following which all security agencies came into action. While the commando unit of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) immediately swung into action, Delhi Police's SWAT team also arrived at the site within minutes. 

Soon after, NDRF and DDMA teams and fire brigade also reached at the location. 

In the meantime, the dog squad of CISF combed the area and found out three live bombs. They were immediately defused by the bomb squad. 

The entire exercise lasted for three hours and was conducted under the guidance of top National Security Guard (NSG) and Intelligence Bureau (IB) officials.
