In an attempt to silence a section of the crowd vigorously chanting his name during Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's address here today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was seen gesturing the masses to calm down and maintain silence.

While Nitish was addressing the inauguration function of the newly constructed Digha-Sonepur rail-cum-road bridge in Hajipur, the Prime Minister got up from his seat and walked towards the end of the dais, gesturing the crowd chanting 'Modi Modi' with his hand to maintain silence.

Following Nitish's address, both him and the Prime Minister were seen smiling and talking amicably to each other. Prime Minister Modi arrived in Patna today on a day-long visit to Bihar where he will dedicate to the nation the newly constructed Digha-Sonepur rail-cum-road bridge and inaugurate a new rail bridge in Munger.

The Prime Minister also kick-started the operation of the goods trains on the newly constructed rail portion of Munger Rail-Cum Road Bridge from Sahebpur Kamal end in Begusarai district.

He will also lay the foundation stone of the additional rail bridge near existing Rajendra Bridge in Mokama over the river Ganga.

Earlier PM Narendra Modi shared the stage on Saturday with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on his visit to Patna. PM Modi was in the city to close the year-long programme on the centenary celebrations of Patna High Court.

He shared the dias with CM Nitish Kumar whom he had traded barbs during the assembly polls last year.

Modi was received by Kumar from the airport. As per reports, though they shared the dias they sat at a distance from each other. They posed for a picture together and the PM walked up to CM Kumar's side and seemed to have said something that made everyone smile on the podium.

Asserting that quality of argument and judgement will improve with the introduction of technology, Prime Minister Narendra Modi batted for the augmentation of judiciary aided by technology. "Today we have something that we didn't have earlier, that is the power of technology. Let's make the bar, bench and court tech savvy. This is a time for new resolves and to think of new benchmarks," Prime Minister Modi said.
